Traffic Police in Sofia will no longer register cars that pollute the air. Within a month, inspections will be launched in the streets of Sofia to check for excessive amounts of harmful emissions. Environment Minister Neno Dimov pledged to get funding so that the measures could be applied across the country.

The cabinet decided in favor of the ski tourism in Bansko and gave the green light for the eventual construction of a second cabin lift. This happened at the last meeting of the Council of Ministers for the year.

Environment Minister Neno Dimov said that any investment intention would go through all the points of the environmental legislation.

Bulgaria has agreed to send two lion cubs recently rescued from an illegal zoo in the northern city of Razgrad to a rescue centre for big cats in Holland, run by Four Paws International, an animal rights group announced on Friday.

Seven start-ups from all over Europe will present their ideas at Sofia's first open-air innovation initiative - Sofia Urban Challenge, reports Mediapool. 

Although air pollution in Bulgaria has declined since 2011, our country is still far from the eco-standards, especially in terms of fine particals matter, which is why it was condemned by the European Commission, reports Mediapool.
