Greece national basketball team

The Greek national basketball team were eliminated from the Eurobasket 2017 after losing to Russia (74-69). The Greek side were unable to capitalise on their free throws, registering an appalling 50%, while Russian star player Shved upped his game notably in the second half to lead his team to the semis.

The Greek national basketball team is leading Russia (37-31) at the end of the 1st half in their quarter final of the 2017 Eurobasket championships. Playmaker Nick Calathes is once more putting on a solid performance with 6 assists and 8 points.

Greece has advanced to the 2017 Eurobasket quarter finals after defeating Lithuania (77-64) in the final 16 knock out stage. Kostas Sloukas led the scoring with 21 points, while centre Giannis Bourousis also picked up his game grabbing 8 rebounds and scored crucial baskets, as did playmaker Nick Calathes who had 6 assists.

Greek basketball legend Nick Galis was inducted on Friday to the sport's Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, at the age of 60 years.

The national Under-20 team is the new European champion, after defeating Israel 65-56 in Sunday's final at Iraklio.

Hosts Greece will be looking to celebrate their first FIBA U20 European Championship in eight years when they face Israel in the Final.

Kostas Missas will be the next manager for the Greek men’s national basketball team. The 64-year-old manager was announced by the Greek Basketball Federation (EOK) on Tuesday. “Assuming the management of the national team is a special privilege and responsibility”, Mr. Missas stated after the official announcement was made.
