Greece national basketball team

Women Eurobasket, the Greek national basketball team is playing against Turkey for the semi-finals of the Women’s Eurobasket 2017.

At half time Greece leads with 36-30.

After defeating Russia (62-58), one of the tournament’s favourites, in the quarter finals of the 2017 Women Eurobasket, the Greek national basketball team will attempt to clinch a spot in the semi-finals today against Turkey at 4pm (Greek time). It is the second time the women national team secured a berth in the best 4 teams in Europe after 2009.

The Greek women basketball team defeated the strong Serbian team (69-60) in their group C match on the opening day of the 2017 Eurobasket championships. Spanou led the Greek team with 18 points, followed by Maltsi with 16.

The Greek basketball league title will be decided in a a fifth and final game, after Panathinaikos defeated their arch-rivals Olymiakos at OAKA stadium (71-58) tying the finals series (2-2). The greens dominated the match throughout with playmaker Nikos Calathes leading his team with 14 points to its second victory in the best of five series.

Olympiakos basketball team have pulled off a great win in Belgrade (66-64) against Red Star Belgrade, essentially clinching a home court advantage in the next knock out round of the Euroleague. The last minute hero was forward George Printezis who scored the winning basket 3 seconds before the end.

Greek singer Yannis Zouganelis appeared at the center of the field and sung for the first time the song composed for the great Greek basketball player, Nikos Galis.

Zouganelis grab the opportunity at the halftime of the finals of “Nick Galis Cup” and started singing his song which surprised pleasantly Galis.

The men's national team of Serbia fell short of winning the bronze at EuroBasket 2015 after being outplayed by France 81-68 (16-16, 21-16, 21-12, 23-24) Sunday.

Serbia's basketball players missed not only the chance to book their tickets for the Olympic Games 2016, but were also left short of the medal at this championship.

Basketball player Vassilis Spanoulis, member of the Greek national team, announced his retirement from the national team after the end of the match between Greece-Latvia for the Eurobasket 2015.

The Serbian men's national basketball team is through to the EuroBasket 2015 semi-finals after beating the Czech Republic 89-75 (21-21, 24-21, 22-21, 22-12)

The quarter-final game was played late on Wednesday in Lille, France.

Greece’s basketball team was eliminated by Spain from the 2015 Eurobasket tournament after a last-second jump-shot from half-court crashed off the backboard.

Spain’s men’s team advanced to the semi-finals after winning 73 to 71.

The Spaniards held off a last-minute rally by the Greek team and will now face the winner of the France-Latvia match in the semifinals.
