Mercury to rise further on Thursday
Sweltering conditions in much of the country are to intensify on Thursday with temperatures forecast to reach 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 Fahrenheit) in both Athens and Thessaloniki. Temperatures will dip gradually from Friday, reaching 36C in Athens and 35C in Thessaloniki, and falling to the low 30s next week. [InTime News]

Eight migrants hurt when high winds topple tree
Authorities in southern Greece say eight migrants have been injured by a fallen tree caused by high winds north of Athens.
The incident occurred Wednesday at a camp for migrants and refugees in Inofyta, 60 kilometers (37 miles) from of the Greek capital.

Heat wave closes Acropolis
A guard at the Acropolis shuts down the ticket machines Thursday, after the Athens Ephorate of Antiquities decided to close the world-famous site from 1 to 5 p.m. - the hottest part of the day - due to a heat wave.

Temperatures in Greece set to climb
Last week's rain showers are expected to give way to drier conditions in Greece this week, as a hot air mass from Africa is forecast to arrive in the country, with temperatures Monday and Tuesday set to exceed 26-27 degrees Celsius (78-80 Fahrenheit), and in some parts reaching 30 Celsius (86 F).

Summer time starts on Sunday morning
Clocks move forward an hour on Sunday at 3 a.m., marking the start of summer time.
The European Parliament recently approved the scrapping of the time change from 2021.
A European Union survey last year showed that more than 80 percent of Europeans were against the clock changes.

Canadian company discovers silver and gold in southeast
Tanjug is reporting this, citing Belgrade-based daily, Vecernje Novosit.
As part of its Talmino Project, the exploration company has found a 40 meter layer containing 8.32 grams of gold per ton, and "an almost incredible" 193 grams of silver per ton, the newspaper writes.
Afterwards, it signed an agreement on a joint investment with another Canadian firm, Fortuna Silver.
