Local tourism showing first symptoms of virus impact
Conferences are being canceled, bookings have slumped, deposit payments are being delayed, cancelation policies are being revised, city hotel occupancy rates are low and arrivals from abroad are dropping: These are the first signs of the impact of the coronavirus epidemic on Greek tourism, and they are expected to rise.

The Church of Sweden in Athens is holdings its annual autumn bazaar, featuring secondhand clothing, household items, toys, books and handicrafts, as well as the Nordic Cafe area of sweet and savory goodies and beverages. The event runs from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Tourism is the main driver of the property market

Conference on Greek banks at Panteion University

Book Bazaar | Athens | June 8 & 9
The National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation (MIET) and its Archive of Greek Literature and History (ELIA) are hosting a bazaar with discounts coming to as much as 70 percent on selected books, magazines, post cards, old newspapers and other memorabilia from the 19th and 20th centuries, in Greek as well as other languages.

Arlette David | Athens | May 15
Dr Arlette David, a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and member of Israel's Institute of Archaeology, will deliver a lecture on "Akhenaten's and Nefertiti's Monotheism: What the Images Reveal," at the Iconic Center. The lecture, which will be in English, is organized by the university, together with the Hellenic Institute of Egyptology and the Jewish Museum of Greece.
