Turkey's indigenous helicopter to be equipped with locally-made missiles

Turkey's new locally-built advanced attack and tactical reconnaissance helicopter ATAK will be equipped with UMTAS, a long range air-to-surface anti-tank missile developed by Turkey's ROKETSAN, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Nov. 23. 

Test firing has already commenced, according to the report.

Turkey's companies to place orders for locally developed base station technologies

Türk Telekom has said it took the first step in supporting the domestic production of 4G (dubbed "4.5G" in Turkey) technologies, and placed the first order for the 4.5G National Base Station, ULAK, as Turkcell has said it launched talks to place an order for these local technologies. 

Gender equality seminars to address university students across Turkey

The Higher Education Board (YÖK) is due to start a series of seminars to raise awareness on gender equality in universities in eight regions across Turkey. 

The first seminar organized by YÖK will take place on Oct. 26 in Amasya province for undergraduate, masters and PhD students. University students from neighboring provinces will also be able to participate in the seminar.

Turkey to open first satellite test center

Turkey is to open its first satellite assembly and test center on May 21, according to a statement from the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

The Spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Test Center, located northwest of Ankara, in Kazan, will initially test the Göktürk-1 satellite, a civil and military observation satellite to be launched in November.
