Serbia Decides to Cut Pensions and Salaries

Aleksandar Vucic, the Serbian Prime Minister, on Wednesday said pensions and salaries in the public sector over 25,000 dinars [€211] a month will be cut by between 3 and 20 per cent as of October.

"The largest number of pensioners, 60.2 per cent of them, will not be affected," Vucic told Serbian public broadcaster RTS.

Serbia Cuts Pensions, Public Sector Salaries

Serbia will cut pensions and public sector salaries as part of a package of economic reform measures.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic explained in a Thursday interview for state-run TV station RTS that public sector salaries of over RSD 25 000 per month would be cut by 10-10.5% and that the country would adopt progressive pension cuts of 3.1%-10%.

BELGRADE - The French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce presented Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic with the special award for outstanding contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Serbia and France.

The award was presented at the ceremony marking the fifth anniversary of the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.
