Chinese investment in Africa fell by more than 40 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2015, officials said on Nov. 17, as the Asian giant's slowing growth dents its commodity demand.
Natural resources from Africa have helped fuel China's economic boom, and it became the continent's largest trade partner in 2009.

Turkish man injured in racist attack in northern France
A Turkish man has been injured in a racist attack in northern France, shot in the back by three assailants, French magazine Nouvel Observateur has reported.
According to reports, the victim was shot in the back at night on Nov. 14 in the northern town of Cambrei because of his "skin color."
Hüseyin Özhan takes up post as new head of EBRD's Ankara office
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Hüseyin Özhan head of its office in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, said the bank in a written statement on Nov. 16.
Özhan, a senior banker previously in charge of the EBRD's investments in the transport sector in Turkey, is taking up his new post on Nov. 16.
PM A. Tsipras in Turkey for footy match and other meetings
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will meet with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglou in Istanbul. Tsipras will leave for the neighboring county at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday to attend the football match between the national teams of Greece and Turkey.
On Wednesday, the two men will discuss the refugee crisis and the safety conditions in Europe as well as the bilateral relations.
Eight migrants drown after boat sinks off Greek island: Coastguard
Eight migrants drowned and at least another three were missing after their inflatable boat sank off the Greek island of Kos early on Nov. 17, the coastguard said.
Seven people were rescued, and emergency crews were still trying to recover all the bodies of the people who died from the capsized vessel, a coastguard official added.

The 19th International Ankara Jazz Festival will kick off on Nov. 17 with Kerem Görsev. The festival will host the masters of jazz until Dec 18The 19th Ankara Jazz Festival will be held this year between Nov. 17 and Dec. 18. The opening concert of the festival will be performed by one of most acknowledged jazz pianists of Turkey, Kerem Görsev.
