ZURICH - The Serbian men's national football team has moved up eight positions in the latest FIFA world rankings and is set to end the year in the 38th position.

Serbia now have 713 points and are behind Scotland (729) and Ghana (714), and ahead of Guinea (706) and Cape Verde (693).

BELGRADE - Serbian female athlete Tatjana Jelaca was declared the best female athlete in the Balkans.

Jelaca won silver in javelin throw at the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich and thus beat the national record.

At the ceremony in Bucharest, Jelaca received the award from the Vice President of the International Association of Athletics Federation Sebastian Coe.

Drivers could lose cars as result of traffic violations

BELGRADE -- "Unconscientious drivers" could in some "drastic" traffic violation cases permanently lose their vehicles, the Serbian police have announced.

Djokovic is currently at the top of the ATP rankings and has won 4 tournaments this season, including Wimbledon.

Turkish athletics has failed to recover at the 2014 European Athletics Championship in Zurich from last year’s doping scandal that saw several Turkish athletes, including Olympic 1,500-meter champion Aslı Çakır Alptekin, banned from their sports.

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic conferred on Tuesday with Ivana Spanovic and Tatjana Jelaca who won silver medals at the recently ended European Athletics Championship in Zurich.

Greece won its second medal at the European Athletics Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, on Sunday with Louis Tsatoumas coming second in the long jump.

Briton Greg Rutherford won the event with a leap of 8.29 meters. Tsatoumas took silver with 8.15 meters, just one centimeter ahead of France's Kafetien Gomis, who claimed bronze.
