Thefts from UK convenience stores surge to record level

Theft from convenience stores in the U.K. reached record levels last year, according to a trade body, blaming criminal gangs and a cost-of-living crisis.

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS), which represents 48,000 stores, said there were more than 1.1 million incidents in the last 12 months.

Stylianides to observe new ACS program for refugee children

On Saturday European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides will visit the ACS Athens campus to observe the school's Youth-to-Youth educational and social integration program in action, meet with young refugees and talk to volunteer teachers and ACS students.

Romania wins nine medals on first day of European Youth Weightlifting Championships

Romanian weightlifters won nine medals on Sunday on the first day of the European European Youth Weightlifting Championships, the Under-15 and Under-17 categories in Milan, Italy, seven golds and two bronzes.

Three gold medals each went to weightlifters Dorina Tofan and Alice Halmac in the U-15 girls' events.

Education forum held at SNFCC

Over 500 participants enjoyed an exchange of ideas at a two-day forum at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center which focused on the development of educational systems that will enable students to become productive, responsible, civic-minded global citizens, ready to contribute proactively to societies.
