Greek airports posted an all-time high in terms of passenger traffic last year, which amounted to almost 65.4 million, up 5 percent or 3.1 million passengers from 2018, Civil Aviation Authority data showed on Wednesday.

The fourth and final ministerial decision regarding the seven "neighborhoods" of the Elliniko development has just been published in the Government Gazette, paving the way for the start of the project's implementation. The decision offers a glimpse of what those seven neighborhoods will look like.

A UK government program to help travelers stranded in Greece and other countries after the collapse of travel firm Thomas Cook get back home is under way, British Ambassador to Greece Kate Smith said on Twitter on Tuesday.

Some 50,000 holidaymakers stranded in Greece due to the collapse of the Thomas Cook tour operator are to be repatriated in the coming days, Greek Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis told Skai television on Monday. 

The first 22,000 are to be repatriated over the next three days, the minister said, adding that aircraft were to arrive on Monday at Zakynthos, Kos and Corfu.

Passenger traffic at Greece's airports rose 4.7 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of 2019, figures compiled by the Civil Aviation Authority show.
The total number of arrivals and departures during this period was 35.52 million, up from 33.92 million in the first seven months of 2018.

Passenger traffic rose 5.3 percent year-on-year at Greek airports in the first half of 2019, Civil Aviation Authority data showed on Wednesday, reaching 25.53 million passengers from 24.24 million in January-June 2018.

Passenger traffic at the country's airports rose by 8.4 percent year-on-year over the first four months of 2019, reaching 10.71 million, against 9.88 million in the January-April 2018 period, Civil Aviation Authority figures showed on Monday.

Greek airports handled 6.8 million passengers in the first three months of the year, a rise by 9 percent compared to the same period in 2018 which saw 6.2 million passengers traveling through the country's airports, according to data by the country's Civil Aviation Authority.
