Residents of Turkey's Mediterranean province of Mersin will enjoy a new environmentally friendly, modern and comfortable public transport service as 100 new compressed natural gas (CNG) powered buses are set to replace an aging fleet thanks to a new loan and grant package provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is extending a new Turkish Lira-denominated long-term loan equivalent to $110 million to Enerjisa Enerji, one of Turkey's largest utilities, according to statements released on Nov. 30. 

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on Nov. 22 provided a $25 million loan to Garanti BBVA Leasing for on-lending to eligible companies looking to invest in greater sustainability.

The head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Nov. 10 that it will support for Turkey's transition to a green economy.

Turkish home appliance manufacturer Arçelik said on Nov. 9 it has secured a €150 million ($173.9 million) loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for green manufacturing.

The loan, which will support a three-year environmentally sustainable investment program, will come in two parts.

The Turkish economy is projected to expand by 9% in 2021, revised upwards 3.5 percentage points from its previous forecast, according to the EBRD's latest Regional Economic Prospects report published on Nov. 4. 

A city in southeastern Turkey joined the Green Cities program of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), according to an official statement on Nov. 2.

The first phase of the reconstruction of the Piraeus Tower was undertaken by TERNA SA, a 100% subsidiary of the GEK TERNA Group.

Turkey's leading bus manufacturer Otokar has won a major bus tender in Jordan.

According to the contract, Otokar will manufacture and export 136 buses, including 100 Vectio models and 36 Kent models, for the transportation needs of the Amman municipality.
