EBRD, Ford Otosan charge ahead with big EV lending

 

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is supporting the production of a range of next generation all-electric and plug-in hybrid variants of one-ton commercial vehicles for the European market by arranging a 650 million-euro loan to Ford Otosan, US automaker Ford's joint venture with Turkey's Koç Holding, according to a statement from the bank on July 14.

Two of China's largest banks moving to Greece

Two of China's biggest banks plan to do business in Greece, the Bank of Greece, has announced. 

Specifically, the central bank informed the Development Ministry on October 31 about the establishment of branchs of a branch of Bank of China (Europe) Luxembourg. 

The branch is to be located at Mesogeion Avenue, 2, and has a launch date of November 1, the BoG said. 

Bulgaria to Launch Tender to Sell Belene Nuclear Project Next Year

 Bulgaria plans to launch a tender to sell its abandoned 2,000 megawatt nuclear power project Belene in early 2018, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said on Tuesday, quoted by REUTERS. 

The previous government cancelled the Belene project in 2012 after failing to find foreign investors and under pressure from Brussels and Washington to limit its energy dependence on Russia.

European development bank and ICBC Turkey in new financing for country's largest NPL firm

In a move to support innovation in Turkey's financial sector, the EBRD has said it is providing a syndicated loan of 120 million Turkish Liras (36 million-euro equivalent) to Hayat Varlık, the largest non-performing loans (NPL) and asset management company in the country, in a statement. 

Bank of China to establish deposit bank in Turkey

The Bank of China (BOC) has received permission to operate a deposit bank in Turkey through the investment of $300 million, Turkey's banking watchdog said late Jan. 13, according to Anadolu Agency. 

In a statement, the country's Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) said BOC had brought the "required capital" and would apply to start operating shortly.      

Turkey's Rönesans studies Morocco, Senegal PPP projects with France's Meridiam

Turkish construction and investment firm Rönesans Holding's healthcare unit is working with French fund Meridiam on public-private partnership (PPP) investments in Morocco and Senegal, the Rönesans board chairman told Reuters on Dec. 20, also giving details about the planned financing deals for the group's city hospital projects.
