Hospitals in Sofia are facing a crisis as they turn away emergency patients due to a severe shortage of intensive care unit (ICU) beds. The alarming issue came to light during a forum discussing the challenges within Bulgaria's healthcare system, where a nurse from the Sofia Emergency Service shed light on the dire situation.

"There is a great deal of distrust among colleagues. When they listened to us, we hoped that the flow of patients would start to decrease every day. Doctors feel abandoned in their jobs and patients look for them only when they are infected and worried about their health and for their loved ones. Colleagues are tired and demotivated. "

Representatives of the Bulgarian Medical Union (BMU) and the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) are continuing negotiations to sign the National Framework Agreement for next year.
