MPs reject motion for referendum on Demographic Fund
Ljubljana – The National Assembly rejected in a 46:43 vote on Tuesday a proposal from the centre-left opposition for a consultative referendum on the government-sponsored bill on the national Demographic Fund.
The bill was adopted by the government last autumn and its passed a second reading in the National Assembly in March.
Sava Turizem’s revenue almost halved last year
Ljubljana – The tourism company Sava Turizem last year generated EUR 55.2 million in sales revenue, which is 47% less than in the year before. It generated more than a quarter of the revenue with tourism vouchers that were used by domestic tourists between the first and second waves of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Cetis reports higher profit despite pandemic
Celje – Cetis, a printing group specialising in secure documents, commercial printing and packaging, saw its net profit increase by 30% to EUR 5.9 million last year as revenue rose 2% to EUR 67.8 million, follows from the annual report posted by the company on the website of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.

Pošta Slovenije boss steps down, chief supervisor appointed interim head
Maribor – Boris Novak has stepped down as director general of postal operator Pošta Slovenije by mutual agreement with the new supervisory board. He is succeeded by Tomaž Kokot, the chair of the supervisory board, who will step in as interim director.
New management appointed at Telekom
Ljubljana – The supervisory board of Telekom Slovenije, the state-owned telecoms incumbent, appointed a new management board on Wednesday headed by CEO Cvetko Sršen after dismissing the current board members.

MPs pass Demographic Fund bill at second reading
Ljubljana – The National Assembly passed the National Demographic Fund bill at second reading last night, tweaking the bill slightly via amendments by the coalition, but voting down a number of amendments tabled by the opposition, including the one exempting the STA from the fund.

Centre-left seeks referendum on demographic fund bill
Ljubljana – Four centre-left opposition parties propose the National Assembly call a consultative referendum on the government-sponsored bill on the National Demographic Fund, arguing its concept is flawed. If their proposal is not adopted, they will initiate a legislative referendum once the bill is passed.
STA to become part of emerging Demographic Fund
Ljubljana – The emerging National Demographic Fund might become the founder and the only shareholder of the Slovenian Press Agency (STA), according to an amendment to the government-sponsored bill on the new fund. The agency’s founder and only shareholder is now the Republic of Slovenia, with the government acting on behalf of the state.

Energy group GEN trumped 2020 plans with EUR 65m in net profit
Krško – Power utility group GEN, which manages the Slovenian half of the Krško power plant, exceeded its plans last year despite the challenging situation and delayed investments due to the Covid-19 epidemic. There were also no disturbances in electricity supply. Net profit reached EUR 65 million, CEO Martin Novšak told the press on Thursday.
Two SSH board members, supervisor resign over sale of venture capital fund
Ljubljana – Two members of the management board of Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SSH) and a member of the supervisory board of the state asset custodian have resigned over irregularities established in the sale of a 49% stake in the venture capital fund Meta Ingenium.
