Turks leave Libya as consul general calls on Libyan government for responsibility

Some 250 Turkish citizens are leaving Libya, after a call from a renegade Libyan general to Turks and Qataris to leave the country’s east within two days or suffer a backlash from the public.

Most Turkish nationals have left the country since the Foreign Ministry issued its own warning, Anadolu Agency quoted Turkey’s Benghazi Council General Ali Sait Akın as saying on June 23.

Turkish Airlines buys 15 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes

U.S. aerospace giant Boeing and Turkish Airlines on June 16 finalized an order for 15 additional 737 MAX 8s, valued at $1.6 billion at list prices, the companies said.

The deal stemmed from the Turkish flag carrier's biggest Boeing order in its history, in May 2013, for 70 single-aisle 737s, Boeing best-selling airplane.

Turkey does not evacuate Baghdad embassy as ISIL moves on capital

As jihadist militants approach ever closer to the Iraqi capital Baghdad, Turkey has still yet to decide to evacuate its embassy in the city, an official has told Hürriyet Daily News, adding that the embassy staff were currently working to remove all Turkish nationals from Iraq.

Singapore Airlines launches direct Athens-Singapore flights

Singapore Airlines on Tuesday started twice-weekly direct flights from Athens to Singapore, every Monday and Thursday.

The service will run to October 9 on Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

The airline also operates 33 weekly flights linking Athens and Singapore via Istanbul in a code-share partnership with Aegean and Turkish Airlines.

TAV in talks to build new terminal at Atatürk

Turkish Airlines official killed in attack on company car in Somalia

Turkish Airlines’ security chief was killed when a company car was attacked in Mogadishu, Turkish Ambassador Kani Torun said May 27.

Saadettin Doğan reportedly died after being hit in the head in the attack.

Turkey’s Mogadishu Embassy has contacted Somali officials to urge that they conduct an investigation to identify and capture the assailants.
