Six Suspects Arrested in Brussels, Terrorist Attack Foiled in France

Belgian police arrested six people in the Brussels suburb of Schaerbeek on Thursday as the manhunt for suspects in Tuesday's terrorist attacks targeting Zaventem airport and Maelbeek metro station continues.

It is still unclear whether the arrested people are connected to the attacks and their identities have not been revealed yet.

EU's Interior Ministers to Convene at Extraordinary JHA Council

The interior ministers of the member states of the EU will convene at an extraordinary meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) council in Brussels on Thursday.

The meeting has been summoned by the Dutch presidency of the Council of the EU in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Brussels on Tuesday.

Brussels attacker was deported from Turkey twice, say Turkish officials

One of the attackers in the Brussels suicide bombings was deported from Turkey twice last year, despite Turkish president saying having deported the attacker once, and the authorities warned their European counterparts that they suspected him of being a militant fighter, two Turkish officials said on March 24. 

Belgium Released Brussels Attacker Deported Earlier from Turkey, Erdogan Reveals

Turkey deported one of the Brussels attackers and alerted the Belgian authorities about him last year, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

However, Belgium had found no links with terorism of the deportee and released him, Erdogan said at a joint news conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in Ankara, Turkish news daily Sabah reported on Wednesday.
