Turkey’s consulate in the Iraqi city of Basra has been evacuated due to security concerns, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu announced June 17. The 18 consulate staff members, including the consul general were were taken to Kuwait, Davutoğlu wrote via his Twitter account.

Greece, Kuwait mark 50 years of friendship with deals

Greece and Kuwait marked 50 years of diplomatic relations on Thursday by signing two agreements, one regarding investments and the other tourism.

The deals were signed by Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, who also met President Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

Kuwait marks 53 years of independence

BELGRADE - The Kuwaiti Embassy in Belgrade held a reception at Hotel Hyatt in Belgrade on Monday evening to mark 53 years of independence.

Ambassador Yousef Ahmad Abdulsamad said on the occasion that diplomatic relations between Serbia and Kuwait have spanned over more than fifty years, and noted that the countries have friendly ties and that there are no open issues.
