A 39-year-old Uzbek man being held in custody is the suspected driver of a hijacked beer delivery truck that ploughed into crowds in central Stockholm, killing four people and wounding 15 in an apparent terror attack, police have said.

Metropolitan of Sweden and All Scandinavia Cleopas issued a statement following the terrorist attack in the city of Stockholm, Friday, expressing solidarity to the victims’ families.

Flags flew at half-mast across Stockholm on Saturday as the city slowly returned to normal a day after a truck attack that killed four people, as police said they had the suspected driver in custody.

The man, who was arrested in the north of the city, has not been named, but Swedish media say he is from Uzbekistan.
Four people were killed and 15 were injured when the truck crashed into the front of a department store.

Swedish police detained another person in the investigation of the bombing in Stockholm, reported local newspaper "Express", quoted by Tass.

The arrest was made in the northern metropolitan suburb Yulsta. The operation included  10 police cars. The detainee was handcuffed and taken in a police car.

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras unequivocally condemned the Stockholm terrorist attack in a tweet he posted. “We unequivocally condemn the terrorist attack in Stockholm. I express the deep condolences of the Greek people to the relatives of the victims”, Mr. Tsipras wrote.

The head of the Greek Consular Office in the Embassy to Sweden, Konstantinos Soulios told prortothema.gr that there was no information of any Greeks among the victims in the Stockholm truck attack that resulted in the death of five people, Friday. “We are in the Embassy and following the events”, he said, adding that the whole city has been shut down.

A man has allegedly been arrested after a suspected terrorist attack in central Stockholm. Some reports say a second man has also been detained, while police are looking for a third individual in connection to the attack.
At least five people have been killed in the Swedish capital after a truck drove into shoppers in the busy Drottninggatan area.

At least four victims were killed on April 7 when a stolen truck drove into a large department store in this capital city. 

Prime Minister Stefan Lofven confirmed the death toll during a late night news conference in which he said at least 15 other victims were injured in the attack.

"There are deaths, and many injured," Nina Odermalm Schei, a spokeswoman for Swedish intelligence agency Sapo, told AFP, without giving a precise figure.
