Egypt brands jihadist ISIL a 'terrorist group'
An Egyptian court on Nov. 30 branded the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) operating in Iraq and Syria a "terrorist" organization, the official news agency MENA reported.
An Egyptian militant group, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, which pledged allegiance to ISIL earlier in November, has itself also been designated a terrorist organisation under a similar ruling.

Cameron set to visit Turkey next week
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that British Prime Minister David Cameron will pay a visit to Turkey on Dec. 9, where the two leaders will overwhelmingly discuss the ongoing international fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Pope, Orthodox Patriarch pledge to support Mideast Christians
Pope Francis on Nov. 30 issued a strong pledge of support for the embattled Christians of the Middle East and urged an end to the millenium-old schism between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, as he wrapped up his first visit to Turkey.
The trip of the pope to Istanbul has been marked by attempts to reach out both to Muslims and other Christian confessions.
