U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry began high stakes talks in the Russian resort of Sochi on May 12 aimed at pushing President Vladimir Putin to fully implement a shaky Ukraine ceasefire.

The Syrian question has become part of the domestic political agenda prior to the elections. It has also become a source of wishful thinking in the West, with an increasing number of reports suggesting Turkey and Saudi Arabia are on the verge of entering Syria militarily to topple the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov will be meeting with his American counterpart John Kerry in Sochi, to discuss on Ukraine, Syrian, Yemen and Iran issues, according to the RIA news agency.

The Russian news agency states that Moscow does not expect any significant progress.

Yemen's Shiite Huthi rebels said May 11 that they shot down a warplane of the Saudi-led coalition, shortly after Morocco said one of its fighter jets had gone missing on a sortie.

Neighbouring Saudi Arabia had said on May 9 that the ceasefire could begin on May 12 if the Houthi militia agreed to the pause.

Saudi Arabia will begin bombings anew in Yemen, targeting rebels.

The Saudi Arabian coalition forces warned northern Yemeni civilians to leave their province before they began raiding rebel targets in the area.
