Easter shopping hours in Athens announced

The Athens Traders Association announced on Friday the proposed working hours for Athens stores during the Easter holiday season, which will start on Thursday April 6, and is as follows: Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, April 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Thursday (April 10-13) from 9 a.m.

Bishops say Easter brings new beginning, hope and life

Ljubljana/Maribor – Ljubljana Archbishop and Metropolitan Stanislav Zore held an Easter Sunday mass in the Ljubljana Cathedral to note that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is something that brought new hope and life. Masses of the Resurrection of the Lord were held in numerous other churches around the country.

Shoppers prepare for Orthodox Easter feast

A meat market in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, saw increased custom Tuesday as people were stocking up ahead of the traditional Orthodox Easter feast, which comprises an offal soup on Easter Saturday (Mageiritsa), when believers break the Lenten fast, and a spit-roast lamb on Easter Sunday. In Athens, stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, from 1 to 7 p.m.
