New herbaceous plant species discovered in NE Turkey
A new plant belonging to the perennial herbaceous family Bellevalia has been discovered in northeastern Turkey.
The article telling the world about the plant, published in the journal Phytotaxa, gave its scientific name as Bellevalia bayburtensis, after Bayburt, the province where it was discovered.
Names written on paper put inside pasta to prevent rigging in draw organized by employment organization
The Turkish Employment Organization (İŞKUR) has taken an unusual measure to prevent rigging in a draw set to give jobs to unemployed people by putting the names of candidates written on papers inside ring-shaped pasta.
The organization said some 2,700 people applied to the program, however only 500 of them will be given jobs.
