First Industrial Farm Hit by African Swine Fever in Bulgaria

Bulgarian Food Safety Agency on Saturday confirmed the first outbreak of African swine fever in an industrial farm in the country.

A total of about 17,000 pigs are fattened in the farm, which is located in the village of Nikolovo near Danube River in Ruse Region, the agency said in a statement.

Aerial Mosquito Spraying along Danube to Start on 12 July from Kozloduy

On 12 July 2019, a disinsection campaign along the Danube will be launched, said the press office of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency. The affected areas along the entire Danube will be treated through aerial spraying of insecticides. The first mosquito spraying will take place in Kozloduy Municipality.

On Friday, July 12, 2019, a disinsection campaign began along the Danube. Destruction of insects will take place through insecticidal treatment of affected areas along the entire Danube River. The first mosquito spraying will be implemented on the territory of Kozloduy Municipality.

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency Confirmed a Second Outbreak of African Swine Fever Virus

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BNSA) received a signal of increased morbidity in an animal-farm in the village of Jernov, Pleven, on July 2, 2019. There are 14 pigs in the farm, two of which died. After the notification of the case in Pleven, an on-site inspection team was immediately established.

The Disinsection Campaign along the Danube Starts Today

Disinsection campaign along the Danube starts today. The destruction of the insects will take place through the ubiquitous spraying of the affected areas along the whole Danube River. The campaign will be carried out by aviation treatment aimed at the mass destruction of mosquitoes and the prevention of the spread of human and animal diseases in these risky regions.

BFSA Reports Bird Flu in Lovech Area

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) has registered a new outbreak of avian influenza (H5) in a duck farm in the village of Yoglav, Lovech region. The case was confirmed yesterday by the National Reference Laboratory. BFSA has ordered humane killing and disinfection and has set up protection and observation areas around the village.
