Serbian rights organisations are calling on the country's parliament to conduct a more transparent process for the selection of a new Information Commissioner - a post considered crucial for obtaining information of public importance.

The ruling Serbian Progressive Party won most votes in Sunday's Belgrade City Assembly elections and will most likely continue to run the capital for the next four years, preliminary results show.

Party chief and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said the party's nominee for the post of mayor would be revealed within 15 days.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said this came in the run-up to local elections in Belgrade and two other municipalities - and called on the authorities to punish those responsible.

The Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia, IJAS, and the Centre for Research, Transparency and Accountability, CRTA, asked viewers in Serbia on Monday to report TV Pink to the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media over its reports depicting Skrozza as an enemy of the government.

PM has another meeting with NGOs

BELGRADE -- Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic conferred with representatives of the NGO sector on Thursday.

He "heard their suggestions out and underscored that the cooperation between the government and NGO sector needs to continue," Tanjug reported.
