Former Bacau Mayor Romeo Stavarache arraigned and detained
The former mayor of Bacau (county seat, northeast of Bucharest) Romeo Stavarache has been arraigned and placed under arrest pending trial on Friday for five charges of bribery, a release of the National Anticorruption Directorate informed AGERPRES.
Roman Catholic archdiocese asks President's intervention for court sentence enforcement
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bucharest (ARCB) asserts that authorities drag their feet in enforcing a one-and-a-half year old court sentence requiring them to demolish the Cathedral Plaza building, erected near the St. Joseph Metropolitan Cathedral; in a release to AGERPRES on Saturday, ARCB repeats its demand to President Traian Basescu's intervention in the matter.

Ivanovic's detention extended by another two months
KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The detention of Citizens' Initiative Serbia, Democracy, Justice leader Oliver Ivanovic has been extended by another two months, his attorney, lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic, said on Friday.
In a statement to Tanjug, Vlajic said that the decision to extend Ivanovic's detention was made by an Eulex pretrial judge of the Basic Court in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Mayor of Smederevo found guilty in corruption case
BELGRADE -- The Higher Court in the town of Smerevo has found Mayor Jasna Avramović guilty on charges of "extended criminal act of accepting bribes."
The court said that Avramović, a medical doctor by trade, enabled the granting of illegal pensions, and received money in return.
