Education starts in three provinces in quake zone
Schools reopened on March 13 in the southern quake-hit provinces of Adana, Gaziantep and Osmaniye, as education had to be suspended in the quake-hit region due to the massive destruction caused by the twin tremors last month.

Experts call for relocation of schools in high quake-risk areas
Around 4,159 schools in Türkiye are located in places with high earthquake risk, of which 191 schools are in the fault avoidance zone, the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) has announced, with engineers warning of a potential hazard in the event of other earthquakes.

Winter break begins for nearly 19 million students
Nearly 19 million students in Türkiye, studying in preschools, primary, secondary and high schools, have begun their two-week half-term break after completing their first semester and receiving their mid-term report cards on Jan. 20.
The first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year started on Sept. 12, 2022, and students and teachers will return to classes on Feb. 6.
