Turkish defense minister visits Turkish-Syrian border

Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Işık has paid a visit to the southeastern province of Gaziantep in order to obtain information regarding the activities on the Turkish-Syrian border. Işık was accompanied by Land Forces Commander Gen. Salih Zeki Çolak and other high-level military officials, Anadolu Agency reported on Sept. 29. 

Death toll in Gaziantep car bomb attack rises to three

One police officer who was wounded in a car bomb attack on police headquarters in the southeastern province of Gaziantep on May 1 has succumbed to his injuries, bringing the death toll to three.

Police officer Mehmet Öter, 45, succumbed to his injuries on May 6 at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

The death toll in the attack has risen to three.

Turkish security forces arrested 10 foreign nationals on April 7 for attempting to cross into Syria, Turkish officials have said.

The suspects from Switzerland, Kosovo, Syria, Tajikistan and Russia were seized in the southern Turkish province of Gaziantep, the Gaziantep Governor's Office said in a statement.
