Construction of field hospital at Istanbul airport site begins

Construction work to build a field hospital at the site of the now-closed Atatürk Airport in Istanbul has begun.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced earlier this week two more hospitals with a capacity of 1,000 beds each will be established in the country's largest city as part of efforts in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.

Turkish airports break another record in June, hosting over 16 million passengers

Turkish airports saw their busiest month ever in June, serving over 16 million passengers through the month, according to figures announced by the country’s airports authority on July 5.

The 16.7 million passengers served by Turkish airports in June marked a 10.6 percent increase from the same month last year, the General Directorate of State Airports (DHMÄ°) said in a statement.
