Moderate quake jolts Lefkada in Ionian Sea

A moderate earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale jolted the Ionian island of Lefkada on Saturday morning, in an area that has seen a spike in seismic activity over recent days.

The Athens-based Geodynamic Institute said that the tremor occurred at 10.05 a.m. and its epicenter was 2 kilometers northwest of Lefkada.

Quake rattles Gulf of Laconia in southern Peloponnese

A quake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale rattled southeastern Peloponnese just before noon on Tuesday morning and was felt some 300 kilometers away in Athens.

The Geodynamic Institute put the epicenter 18 kilometers southeast of the coastal village of Gytheio and 54 kilometers from Sparta, while its depth was at 5 kilometers.

Magnitude 4.6 earthquake strikes off the coast of Crete

The Athens-based Geodynamic Institute says a magnitude 4.6 earthquake has struck the area south of Greece's island of Crete.

The institute reported that the earthquake hit shortly after 9 a.m. local time Wednesday with its epicenter located about 67 kilometres south of the town of Chania. Its depth was measured at 22 kilometers.

5.0 magnitude earthquake struck west of Skyros overnight

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit a little before 2 am on Thursday in the sea area north west of the island of Skyros. According to the Geodynamic Institute, the tremor had a depth of 10km and struck 93km from Chalkida and was felt in the capital of Athens. The Mayor of Skyros, Michalis Chatzigiannakis was reassuring saying that although the earthquake was felt no damage was reported.
