ICTY rejected Mladic's request to extend the appeal deadline
The Appeals Chamber of the Judicial Mechanism in The Hague (ICTY) rejected the request of Mladic's defense to extend the deadline for the appeal against the first-instance verdict for another 90 days, as it believes it is not supported by new arguments which were adopted in December, reports Serbian daily "Vecernje Novosti".

According to the paper, the initiative was handed over to the city authorities on Friday at at noon, and the initiative was also taken to the Presidency of Serbia.

Dragan Mektic on Saturday attempted to prevent a major controversy after he was quoted by Vecernji List newspaper as saying that the 1995 Srebrenica massacres were genocide, insisting that he had been misquoted.
