PM Ponta: CAS cut will come into force on October 1; this is a good time

Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Saturday evening said the cut in social security contributions (CAS) will come into force on October 1, despite opposition from President Traian Basescu, adding that the measure could lead to an increase in jobs subjected to taxation.

Central Bank lowers forex minimum reserve requirement ratio to 16pct, keeps 3.5pct key rate

The National Bank of Romania's (BNR) Board in its meeting on Tuesday decided to keep the monetary policy rate unchanged at 3.5 percent per annum and lower the minimum reserve requirement ratio on forex-denominated liabilities of credit institutions to 16 percent down from 18 percent to apply over July 24 - Aug. 23, 2014, the Central Bank announced in a release to AGERPRES.
