Gov't passes budget revision ordinance

The government has passed an emergency ordinance regarding the revision of the 2020 national budget and the state insurance budget that takes into account the new economic data following the crisis triggered by the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery Ionel Danca announced on Wednesday.

According to the The National Employment Agency, 236,000 are the unemployed people in Bulgaria. "For yesterday, we have a fairly high number of newly registered workers in the Labor Offices. The total number of the country was 7 138. About 5 000 of them indicated that their registration was related indirectly or directly to the crisis at the time of the coronavirus epidemic.

Bulgaria Has a Labor Market Reserve of Over 200,000 Inactive People of Working Age

Bulgaria has a substantial reserve on the labour market of over 200,000 people of working age who are inactive.

Prompting these people to be active and seeking employment opportunities for people with disabilities is a priority of the national employment action plan for next year, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy Lazar Lazarov told reporters.

National Employment Agency: The Unemployment Rate in Bulgaria Remains at Record Low Level

In August 2019 Bulgaria's unemployment was at 5.3% and remains unchanged as compared to the previous month, this country's National Employment Agency announced. Unemployment fell with 0.3 percentage points on an annual basis, BNR reported.

Government Revokes Refugee Integration Ordinance

The caretaker government held an extraordinary meeting on Friday to revoke an ordinance by the previous government on integration of refugees, BTA said.

Announcing their decision, Labour and Social Policy Minister Galab Donev and Interior Minister Plamen Uzunov said that the ordinance was revoked "in order to find incentives for better integration of refugees in this country".

Unemployment in Bulgaria Continues To Decline in August

Unemployment continued to decline in August, announced the National Employment Agency.

At the end of August, there were 261,525 unemployed registered in labour bureaus. Compared to July, there was a decrease of 6,575 persons. On an annual basis, compared to August 2015, the number of unemployed was significantly lower - a decrease of 45,296.
