Suicide in decline but experts warn of knock-on effect of Covid

Ljubljana – Death by suicide has been declining in Slovenia for two decades and the number of suicides fell again last year. Experts say this may be attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic, but they also warn the consequences may yet reflect on mental health and suicide statistics.

234 new coronavirus cases confirmed on Sunday

Ljubljana – Slovenia confirmed 234 new cases of coronavirus for Sunday, a week-on-week increase of more than sixty percent. The test positivity stood at 16.4%, show the latest data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

The 14-day incidence per 100,000 population rose by six to 323 and the seven-day rolling average of new daily cases rose to 550.

666 coronavirus cases, three deaths reported for Wednesday

Ljubljana – Another 666 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Wednesday to push the number of active cases to over 6,000 as three Covid-19 patients died, official data shows.

The National Institute of Public Health estimates there are currently 6,045 active cases in the country, up from 5,756 the day before.

Over 2,300 cases of SARS-CoV-2 VOCs, of which 620 with Delta

The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informs on Tuesday that until August 29 there have been 2,373 cases of SARS-CoV-2 Variants of Concern (VOCs), of which 1,719 with the Alpha strain, 11 with Beta, 23 with Gamma and 620 cases with the Delta variant. According to the INSP, until August 29, the confirmation rate with variants of SARS-CoV-2 VOCs was of 80%.

Slovenia logged 273 new coronavirus infections on Saturday

Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 273 new coronavirus infection on Saturday for a positivity rate of 19.6%. The 14-day incidence per 100,000 people increased from 229 to 237, fresh official data show. Hospitalisations continue to rise, according to the national data tracker Covid-19 Sledilnik. No deaths were reported.

Slovenia reports 538 coronavirus cases for Friday

Ljubljana – Slovenia confirmed 538 coronavirus infections on Friday as the test positivity rate remained high, standing at 17.3%. The 14-day incidence per 100,000 population increased by 13 to 229, show fresh official data. Hospitalisations continued to rise as well. Two persons with Covid-19 died.

More than 540 new cases as 14-day incidence surpasses 200

Ljubljana – Slovenia reported 542 new coronavirus infections for Thursday and a test positivity rate of 18.3%, almost a percentage point more than the day before. The 14-day incidence per 100,000 population cracked 200, increasing by 17 on a daily basis, show fresh data from the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).
