The General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP) of the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has successfully relocated red deer from the northwestern province of Bursa to the Salda Lake region in the southern province of Burdur.

Turkish authorities have detained 28 suspects, including five public officials, for allegedly accepting bribes from beekeepers and farmers seeking permission to drill boreholes in the western province of Aydın.

A man has been taken into custody by Istanbul police after they discovered several peacocks and a dozen endangered deer, which are prohibited from being kept as pets, in his villa's garden in the Silivri district.

The Anatolian leopard, which was last seen in Türkiye in 1975, was spotted on Aug. 8, 2019, since then for the first time when it was thought to be extinct.

The DNA data obtained in the laboratory from the urine sample of the leopard that it left in front of the camera was registered to the World Gene Bank as the "Anatolian Leopard" in 2020.

The General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks (DKMP), an affiliate of the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, has announced increased fines for the illegal hunting of wild animals in the 2021-22 hunting season.

Some 13,409 plant and animal species have been identified in Turkey as a result of extensive studies under the national biodiversity inventory and monitoring project initiated by the General Directorate of Nature Protection and National Parks (DKMP).

Turkish Agricultural Minister Bekir Pakdemirli said that 23 fallow deer that will be released into nature in the western Manavgat and Köyceğiz districts are now in an adaptation process.
