Serbians Hold Mass Protest Against Culture of Violence After Shootings

The Prosecutor's Office for Organised Crime told BIRN on Thursday that it has asked the Interior Ministry's Service for the Fight against Organised Crime to probe allegations that a company connected to Defence Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic's father bought weapons at preferential prices from the state arms manufacturer Krusik.

Zeljski confirmed to RTS that local security services know the identity of a person called a "high-ranking official with an officer's rank", as well as the subject of the trade, but did not want to talk about it, as it encroaches on "sensitive territory of operational collection of information and data analysis".

Curuvija trial: Key evidence included in third attempt
The court reviewed a report on expert analysis of communications as one of the key evidences of the prosecution.
According to the prosecution and the Curuvija family lawyers, although the defendants testified that they were in another location when the murder took place, this report confirms that the accused Miroslav Kurak and Ratko Romic were at the scene of the crime.

“We believe that the current changes in the law are not enough to have a completely democratised oversight of the agency,” said the Centre for Euro Atlantic Studies, CEAS, a Belgrade-based think tank.

Serbia Limits Security Services Eavesdropping
The Serbian parliament on Sunday changed parts of the law to clarify when it is possible and under what specific conditions for the Security Intelligence Agency to eavesdrop and intercept emails or any other form of communication.
The opposition Democratic Party was the only dissenting voice over the changes, calling for apartments to be exempted from special eavesdropping measures.

Parliament adopts amendments to Law on BIA
BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament adopted on Sunday the amendments to the Law on Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) which brought the law in line with the Constitution.
The adopted amendments will enter into force on the day of publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.
