152 people injured due to barrel filled with toxic gas in southeastern Turkey

A total of 152 people were injured due to a chlorine gas leak in Turkey's southeastern province of Siirt on Sept. 11, according to a statement from the Health Ministry.

The ministry stated 60 of the injured people were treated by the Turkish Red Crescent in a tent, as 92 people were hospitalized.

Soldier wounded in PKK car bomb attack in Turkey's Diyarbakır

One soldier was wounded in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) car bomb attack in the Lice district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Sept. 10, Doğan News Agency has reported.

A PKK militant inside a bomb-laden car refused to obey stop calls by gendarmerie forces at the Duru Gendarmerie Military Post some 15 kilometers away from the district at around 6 a.m.

Last body of miner retrieved in Siirt mine disaster

The body of the last miner missing after a mine collapse in the Şirvan district of Turkey's southeastern province of Siirt on Nov. 17 was recovered early on Dec. 12, Doğan News Agency has reported.   

İbrahim Kılınç, 21, was the last of the miners of 16 to be recovered after the collapse at the Madenköy copper mine. 

TSK seizes over 40 mines in Turkey's southeast

The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has announced that over 40 anti-personnel mines have been seized in a security operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

A total of 41 mines were seized in an operation in the Ortaklar region of the Şemdinli district in southeastern Hakkari province on Sept. 22. 

One police officer wounded, one suspect killed in Turkey's southeast

One police officer has been wounded while one suspect has been killed in clashes in Turkey's southeastern province of Siirt. 

The gunfight erupted after patrol officers ordered two suspected individuals, a man and a woman, to stop for inspection in Siirt's Kooperatif neighborhood at 5.30 p.m. on Nov 3.
