Turkish Airlines adds 7 new destinations from Ankara

Turkish Airlines will add seven new direct foreign flight destinations from Turkey's capital Ankara beginning from Oct. 1, 2015, officials said on May 14.

Ankara Chamber of Industry head Nurettin Özdebir told Anadolu Agency that Turkish Airlines had promised to add 27 flights per week from Ankara to seven new foreign destinations.

Erdo?an declines Putin's invitation to Moscow ceremony in fresh diplomatic snub

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has declined an invitation from counterpart Vladimir Putin to attend the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of Moscow?s victory in World War II, in an apparent diplomatic reprisal against Russian leader?s decision to label the 1915 killings of Ottoman Armenians as genocide last month.

Children's day festivities in Turkey darkened by three deaths, inclement weather

People across Turkey, particularly children, celebrated Sovereignty Day and Children?s Day on April 23, though the deaths of three people in three separate cities and unfavorable weather conditions darkened the festivities.  

A teacher died from a heart attack during the ceremonies at his school in the Black Sea province of Trabzon.

Turkey celebrates Sovereignty Day, Children's Day on April 23

Turkey commemorates National Sovereignty Day and Children?s Day on April 23, the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish parliament, with several ceremonies across the country.

The day is celebrated as a children?s festival because children were awarded a special place in the April 23 festivities by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the modern Republic of Turkey.
