Ivanovic finishes appearance in Singapore with victory

SINGAPORE - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic has defeated Romania's Simona Halep 7(9)-6 3-6 6-3 at the WTA season's final tournament in Singapore, but is out of the tournament because she needed to win 2-0 in order to move through.

This was Ivanovic's 2nd victory in Red Group, but it was not enough to be among the top 4 players. For that, she needed deny Halep any sets.

Halep, #4 in the world, scored the biggest win of her career in only 65 minutes, after losing the three matches previously played against Serena Williams.

Ivanovic withdraws from Linz

LINZ- Serbia's Ana Ivanovic has withdrawn from the WTA tournament in Linz as a precaution, after sustaining a left hip injury.

Ivanovic won the opening match on Tuesday against France's Pauline Parmentier.
World No. 8 has already qualified for the WTA Finals in Singapore, scheduled for October 17-26.

Ivanovic halted in China Open semi-finals

BEIJING - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic failed to reach the final of the WTA tournament in Beijing, after losing to Russia's Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-4 on Saturday.

In the title match, Sharapova will face Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, who defeated Australia's Sam Stosur in the first semi-final earlier today.

Halep quits, Ivanovic through to Beijing WTA semifinal

BEIJING - Serbian female tennis player Ana Ivanovic qualified for the Beijing WTA semifinal on Thursday as her opponent in the quarterfinal match, Romania's Simona Halep, withdrew due to health problems.

In the semifinal match, Ivanovic will cross rackets with the winner of all-Russia match between Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Jankovic defeated in Beijing opener, Ivanovic moves on

BEIJING - Serbia's tennis player Jelena Jankovic did not make it to the second round of the WTA tournament in Beijing as she was bested by Alize Cornet of France 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 on Monday.

This was the first win of the French player in their head-to-heads (1-3).

Earlier on Monday, Serbia's Ana Ivanovic breezed past Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 6-2, 6-1 in only 72 minutes.
