Fossils in Çank?r? province have been coming to light since 1997 thanks to delicate works carried out by students from different universities Excavation work at the fossil site in the Central Anatolian province of Çank?r? has been ongoing for many years with the contribution of university students, using a special needle called ?biz.? 

The fossil of a sea otter has been found in the Central Anatolian province of Çankırı, revealing 8 million years of animal life in the area.

The excavations, headed by Professor Ayla Sevim Erol of the Anthropology Department at Ankara University, have been ongoing in the area for the last 17 years.
