Turkish PM makes surprise visit to former president

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has paid a surprise and unscheduled visit to former President Abdullah Gül in the Maslak area of Istanbul. 

Yıldırım and Gül held a meeting in the latter's office for an hour on Oct. 10. The visit was a "courtesy visit," according to Anadolu Agency. 

Education Minister İsmet Yılmaz accompanied Yıldırım on the visit. 

Governor's office revises death toll in PKK suicide attack in Hakkari to 15

Ten soldiers and five civilians were killed on Oct. 9 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) suicide bomb attack targeting a military road checkpoint in the Şemdinli district of the eastern province of Hakkari, the Hakkari Governor's Office has announced, revising the previous civilian death toll to five.
