Swimmer David Popovici breaks world junior record in men's 200 m freestyle

Romanian swimmer David Popovici broke the world junior record in the men's 200 m freestyle on Friday, at the 2021 European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome, securing a place in the final of the event. After taking down the world record in the 100 m freestyle twice in just a few days, the athlete trained by coach Adrian Radulescu clocked 1:45.26 in the 200 m freestyle semifinals.

Swimming: Romania won silver in men's 4x100 m freestyle relay at European Junior Swimming Championships

Romania won the silver medals in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay on Tuesday at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Rome, through David Popovici, Mihai Gergely, Stefan Cozma and Patrick Dinu, with time of 3 min 19 sec 93/100. Popovici, a swimmer qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, set a new world record for juniors in the 100 m freestyle, with a time of 47 sec 56/100.

Swimmer David Popovici, judoka Alexandra Pasca win more medals for Romania at EYOF 2019

Romanian swimmer David Popovici won the silver medal on Thursday in the men's 50m freestyle event, while judoka Alexandra-Maria Pasca won the bronze in the girls' 52kg category at the 2019 Youth Summer Olympic Festival (FOTE) in Baku. Popovici, a 100m freestyle gold medallist, clocked in at 23.03, arriving after the Polish Mateusz Chowaniec, 22.91.

Romania wins women's artistic gymnastics team silver at EYOF 2019

Romania's women's artistic gymnastics team made up of Irina Antonia Duta, Silviana Maria Sfiringu-Gheorghe and Ioana Andreea Stanciulescu, won the silver medal in the team competition at the Baku 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival. Russia ranked first with 108.050 points, followed by Romania (106.800) and Great Britain (103.850).
