Former Moldovan President Detained over Alleged Bribe, Treason 

Pro-Russian former Moldovan President Igor Dodon was detained by prosecutors on Tuesday on four charges including corruption and treason.

Investigators searched Dodon's Chisinau home, his mother's house and a villa being built by the Dodon family by the Dniester River, seizing tens of thousands of euros in cash and half a million lei [25,000 euros], anti-graft prosecutors said.

Last night, explosions erupted in the Ukrainian capital, and Minister Dmytro Kuleba accused Russian forces of firing cruise missiles at Kyiv during a visit by Guterres and Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, which he considers barbaric.
The Russian siege of "Azovstal" continues, while the UN Secretary General is trying to ensure the evacuation from the ironworks.

Cavusoglu: ‘NATO countries want the war in Ukraine to continue’

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has accused other member-states of NATO, of which Turkey is a member, of supporting a protracted war in Ukraine so as "to weaken" Moscow.

"There are countries within the ranks of NATO that want to see the war continue," the Turkish foreign minister said.

"Their objective is to weaken Russia."

Joining NATO in the summer?

According to unnamed U.S. officials, the two countries' membership in the alliance has become a "topic of discussions and numerous meetings" in talks between NATO foreign ministers. Finland is expected to submit the request in June, followed by Sweden.

Armenia, Azerbaijan to launch peace talks

Armenia and Azerbaijan said yesterday they were gearing up for peace talks after a decades-long conflict that has left thousands dead and erupted into an all-out war in 2020.

The two countries were at the centre of a six-week war in 2020 that claimed more than 6,500 lives before it ended with a Russian-brokered ceasefire agreement.
