Pope Francis's plane landed at the government's VIP airport at about ten minutes before 10 am, a little earlier than scheduled. On the Bulgarian soil the pope was welcomed by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. There is a four-eye meeting scheduled between them.

Hours remain until Pope Francis' visit to Bulgaria. Last preparations are running in the places the Holy Father will visit. In Sofia some restrictions on traffic and parking in the center take effect.

Pope Francis will arrive at 10 am and will be welcomed at the airport by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. The two of them will meet in four eyes.

Those living in areas where traffic and parking are limited will be compensated by having the right to park free of charge in the blue and green areas until 7 May when the Pope's visit ends.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will meet His Holiness Pope Francis at Sofia Airport on May 5th. The Holy Father arrives in Bulgaria on an apostolic journey that will last until May 7, when he will visit Sofia and the town of Rakovsky, the government press office announced on 3rd of May, reports BNT. 

His Holiness Pope Francis welcomed the Bulgarian people two days before his visit to Bulgaria. The Holy Father commemorates the great work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, and emphasizes on the forthcoming meeting with His Holiness the Bulgarian Patriarch Neofit.

The limitation is in connection with the visit of Pope Francis to Rakovski, reported NOVA TV. 

On May 6 (Monday) at short intervals before noon and in the afternoon the traffic on Trakia Highway in the 119th to 165th km will be stopped. The restriction is in connection with the visit of Pope Francis to Rakovski, the press agency of the Road Infrastructure Agency announced.

The movement on the Tsar Osvoboditel boulevard in the Rakovska district to Nezavisimost Square and Oborishte Street between Rakovska and August 11 is forbidden, the Sofia Municipality reports.

There will be no night-time lines in public transport. The ban applies from May 3 to May 6 inclusive. The reason is the visit of Pope Francis to Sofia, which begins on Sunday.
