The United Nations which has come under severe criticism from President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an for its call to open its borders to the recent influx of Syrians from Aleppo has voiced hope for the resumption of Turkey's "tradition of open borders and generosity." 

Istanbul is set to host a global meeting focused on humanitarian aid to Somalia, which is scene to persistently high and alarming levels of food insecurity and malnutrition, with an estimated 4.7 million people - nearly 40 per cent of the Somali population - in need of humanitarian assistance.

The World Food Program launched an unusual campaign Dec. 3 to raise $1 contributions from 64 million people around the world so it can restore food vouchers to Syrian refugees who won't be getting any U.N. help in December.
