Nigel Farage has been jeered in the European Parliament after accusing the EU of behaving like the mafia by holding Britain to ransom with “vindictive” demands in the Brexit negotiations.

“You’re behaving like the mafia – you think we’re a hostage. We’re free to go!” the former Ukip leader said in Strasbourg.

Sex Pistols singer Johnny Rotten backed Brexit and called former UKIP leader Nigel Farage “fantastic” in a TV interview Monday.

“The working class have spoken and I’m one of them and I’m with them,” Rotten said on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

For more than two decades, the Danish People’s Party ran on an unapologetically anti-immigration, populist platform, pushing Danish politics to the right by rejecting multiculturalism and opposing the transfer of sovereignty to Brussels.

German MEP and leader of the EPP group Manfred Webber said the EU should amend regulations to avoid funding parties which were opposed to the EU. Mr. Webber argued that the EU should re-assess the current funding rules towards political formations that were euro-phobic.
