The troika is set to decide on Saturday if it is satisfied with a range of proposals it has received from the Greek government aimed at overcoming differences between the two sides and paving the way for inspectors to return to Athens to complete the pending review.

The Greek government must take all the necessary measures so that troika inspectors return to Athens for their final assessment on Greece's reform program, EU Economic and Tax Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said Friday in Brussels.

Despite the huge challenges ahead, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his coalition partner, PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos, agreed on Monday that the government will remain focused on completing the current round of negotiations with the troika and securing an agreement for a “post-memorandum” era next year.

Finance Ministry sources told Kathimerini on Monday that troika representatives are due to return to Athens at the end of the week but Greece’s lenders were not able to confirm this.
