Piri Reis’ world map on display at Topkapı Palace

A world map drawn by the famous Ottoman admiral, cartographer and sailor Piri Reis in 1513 has been put on display once again at Istanbul's Topkapı Palace after a long break. The map on display is among the most important and interesting artifacts that have survived from the age of discoveries. The visitors' interest in the exhibition is reported to be quite intense.

Documentary reveals adventures of Ottoman sailor Piri Reis, Christopher Columbus

Researcher and documentary maker Gülşah Çeliker has pushed the button to make a documentary on the famous 16th century Ottoman admiral, cartographer and sailor Piri Reis.

Çeliker, who made her name heard with the project on Turkey's first female fighter pilot, Sabiha Gökçen, says she is very excited to present the 75-minute documentary to Turkish and international audiences.

Piri Reis maps in Bodrum

An exhibition of famous Ottoman admiral and cartographer Piri Reis' maps has been opened in the western province of Mu?la's Bodrum district. The exhibiton at the Milta Bodrum Marina Ottoman Shipyard can be visited until July 23.
