Montenegro to send members of its armed forces to Kosovo, Afghanistan

Montenegrin Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic says the country is on target to spend 2 percent of annual economic output on defense by 2024, in keeping with a promise to expand military budgets as the United States offers an increase in its own defense spending in Europe.

Montenegro to Send More Troops to Afganistan

Montenegro's Defence Minister Predrag Boskovic will visit the US next week to meet the US Defense Secretary James Mattis and offer more troops for the NATO-led mission in Afganistan.

According to government documents, which BIRN has seen, Montenegro plans to increase the number of soldiers by 50 per cent to meet US demands  for allies to help share the load.

Montenegro will be Guarded by NATO and Greece Aircraft

Montenegrin Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic has confirmed that Italian and Greek fighters will take over the defense of Montenegro's airspace within NATO's Air Policing mission, reports Macedonian media NetPres quoted by Focus.

Boskovic specified that the agreement should be signed with the SMTPSA (Air Traffic Control Agency) of Serbia and Montenegro.

Montenegro would fight against Serbia if NATO should ask

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that sometimes is better to remain silent and not comment on some of the statements. Montenegro celebrated the 4th of April, the day when NATO was established, and on this occasion in front of the Ministry of Defense in Podgorica, next to Montenegro's government, the flag of Alliance was waving.

Parliament on Wednesday approved the new cabinet of Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic, tasked with reviving the economy and leading Montenegro closer to NATO and EU membership.

MPs from the ruling coalition voted in favour of new education, culture, health, justice and labour ministers. The opposition voted against the new cabinet.
