Could Donald Trump win the US election? It's possible. The same anti-systemic wave that has swept through Europe is now rocking the boat of the US political system. The Republican candidate is similar in ways to Ronald Reagan, whose political opponents used to refer to as the "Teflon president," because no accusations of wrongdoing ever stuck.

George HW Bush, 91, falls at Maine home, breaks bone in neck
George H.W. Bush, the oldest living former U.S. president, fell at his summer home on July 15 and broke a bone in his neck but was doing OK, a spokesman said.

Former President George H.W. Bush, aged 91, has broken a bone in his neck after a fall at his home. He is in a stable condition at the Maine Medical Center.
His spokesman, Jim McGrath, said on Twitter:
“41 fell at home in Maine today and broke a bone in his neck. His condition is stable – he is fine – but he’ll be in a neck brace.”

Obama visits Jamaica, takes in Bob Marley museum
Barack Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to set foot in Jamaica since 1982 on April 8 -- and made some time for the late reggae legend Bob Marley.
On arrival, Obama descended from Air Force One to greet a long line of people including Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller, whom he embraced.

When the Cold War ended and the Soviet Union dissolved, a new era of democratic expansionism was heralded, as Francis Fukuyama declared the end of history, optimistically assuming human ideological evolution had ended and liberal democracy ultimately triumphed over the authoritarianism of communism and fascism as the final form of human government.

Illogically, Athens and Berlin are competing in populism, with German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and his Greek counterpart Yanis Varoufakis arguing with each other smugly.

Former New York governor Mario Cuomo dies aged 82
Mario Cuomo, a three-time New York governor who was once considered a leading candidate for the White House, died on Thursday aged 82.
He died at home from heart failure after a long illness, just hours after his eldest son Andrew was inaugurated for a second term as New York governor.
